Construction notice: West Parkade repair work resumes March 5

Scheduled work to levels 2, 3 and 4

Update March 8, 2018: Elevator #2 will be closed as of March 12 until further notice as it will be replaced with a new elevator in the coming weeks.

About the project

General contractor, Heritage Restoration, will continue with structural repair work to the parkade starting March 5. This phase of repair work will focus on levels 2 through 4; however additional work will be done on levels 5 and 6.

Phase 1 of the project was completed between summer 2017 and winter 2018 and required the closure of levels 5 and 6.

Construction schedule

Construction is expected to begin on March 5, 2018 and continue until late fall 2018.

Starting in March, levels 2, 3 and 4 of the parkade will be closed. Traffic control measures will be used to ensure drivers have a safe and clear route to levels of 5 and 6. Delays should be expected.

Once these repairs are complete, levels 2, 3 and 4 will reopen; however, levels 5 and 6 will be temporally closed for waterproofing to be applied.

It is expected that rehabilitation will be completed by late fall 2018.

Property and business access and parking

All businesses around the West Parkade will remain open and accessible throughout construction. Construction activities and equipment movement may temporarily impact access to private and public property and delays should be expected.

Hourly users will have limited access to the parkade.

Pedestrian access

There are no restrictions to pedestrian access.  Pedestrians are reminded to exercise caution in the construction area and follow signage and instructions to ensure their safety at all times.
