The three-year renovation and expansion of Guelph Police Service’s headquarters is underway. Here is a summary of the work completed in January 2018.
Progress to date
East wing addition
- Drywall wall/ceiling framing 70 per cent complete
- Drywall board 50 per cent complete; taping 30 per cent complete
- Mechanical ducting and electrical rough-in work continued
- Glazing and roof complete
- Painting in main floor locker room five per cent complete
- Two rooftop HVAC units installed
West wing addition
- Remaining detention cell slab removed; subgrade and stone installed
- Miscellaneous block walls and door frames installed
- Roof parapet (protective wall) steel framing is 85 per cent complete
- Fouth floor curtainwall (non-structural outer covering of a building for weather protection) steel framing support is 80 per cent complete
Looking ahead to February
East wing addition
- Drywall framing/board and taping will be nearly complete
- Paint and wall finish will be 20 per cent completed
- Aluminum caps on glass frames will be installed
- Last roof top HVAC unit will be installed
- Mechanical and electrical trims installation will start
- Roof above firing range will be complete
- Generator framing will be installed and generators placed on framing
West wing addition
- Existing roof to be complete
- Third and fourth floor curtainwall (non-structural outer covering of a building for weather protection) framing will continue
- Remaining detention cell slabs to be complete
