Guelph Table Tennis Tournament

On March 3 and 4, 2018, the City of Guelph, Guelph Table Tennis Club and Guelph Wellington Seniors Association will co-host Guelph’s first-ever table tennis tournament.

Youth tournament (ages 12 to 18)

The two-day event will take place at the Evergreen Seniors Community Centre, 683 Woolwich Street.

Registration is open to residents living in the city of Guelph or Wellington County. Deadline for registration is Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. Maximum number of participants per day is 80.

Tournament format

  • Individual (single) tournaments only.
  • Each tournament will have a group stage and a knockout/playoff stage.
  • Players are drawn into groups consisting of four to six players (please note: number may vary depending on the number of participants).
  • Each player will play every other player in the same group
  • Match results determine the final ranking order for the group (details will be posted after the registration deadline when total number of participants is known).
  • Top two (number varies depending on the number of participants) players will advance to the knockout stage, whilst the others are eliminated.
  • Winners continue to play in successive knockout rounds until only one player remains unbeaten. Losers are knocked out.

Rules

Games will follow all rules established by the International Table Tennis Foundation and used in Olympic Table Tennis.
