The City is working with Goetz Construction to continue infrastructure work on behalf of a private development company. Unforeseen utility conflicts arose with the original project that resulted in having to close the site and re-enter at a later date to complete the installation of a water pipe servicing 561 York Road.
Construction between Victoria Road South and Wells Street begins November 6
Construction is expected to begin on or about November 6 and take approximately one week, weather permitting.
No westbound traffic on York Road
York Road will be closed to westbound traffic between Victoria Road South and Elizabeth Street. Westbound traffic is to follow the detour along Elizabeth Street to Victoria Road South.
Property and access
Every effort will be made to maintain access to driveways in the construction area during working hours (7 a.m.–7 p.m.). Construction activities and equipment movement may temporarily impact access to private property and delays should be expected.
Guelph Transit routes 4, 17 and 18 will continue to operate during the construction, following the detour as necessary. Travel times are likely to be longer and riders should plan additional travel time accordingly. Visit guelphtransit.ca for more information about schedules.
There will be no interruption to any City services during construction. Waste collection will not be affected. Please continue to place your green, blue and grey carts at the curb, as per your regular schedule.
The City appreciates your patience, understanding and co-operation during this important construction project. Any available updates will be posted on guelph.ca/construction.
