Construction notice: Wheeler Avenue construction

Elizabeth Street to Ferguson Street

Map shows area of construction on Wheeler between Elizabeth and FergusonThe City is working with Drexler Construction Limited to upgrade underground water and sewer pipes on Wheeler Avenue between Elizabeth Street and Ferguson Street. In addition to water and sewer pipe replacement, work includes the replacement of curb and gutter, sidewalks, driveway aprons, as well as asphalt paving and the addition of bike lanes. There will be no changes to the lane configuration on Wheeler Avenue.

Update: Construction starts July 3

Wheeler Avenue will be closed between Elizabeth Street and Ferguson Street starting July 3, 2017 for approximately three months, weather permitting. Sidewalks will also be closed during construction.

Local access will be maintained throughout the project. Please follow posted signs for direction.

Property access

Every effort will be made to maintain access to driveways during construction. Temporary delays due to road work should be expected. There will be times when access will be restricted and alternate arrangements will need to be made for parking and access to properties. Notification will be given and arrangements made when this is to occur.

City services

There will be no interruption to any City services during construction. Waste collection will not be affected. The contractor may have to relocate bins for collection on scheduled pick days. Please ensure that all containers are marked with your municipal street address so they can be returned, and continue to place your green, blue and grey carts at the curb, as per your regular schedule.
