City and IATSE reach tentative agreement

Guelph, Ont., December 1, 2015 — This afternoon the City and the City’s part-time theatre stage employees, represented by the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) LOCAL 357, reached a tentative three-year collective agreement.

Details of the agreement, to be dated January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2017, will be released after it is ratified by IATSE members on December 13 and by City Council on December 14, 2015.

“The City was committed throughout the negotiations to reach a settlement that is fair to Guelph’s theatre stage employees and affordable for Guelph taxpayers,” said David Godwaldt, the City’s general manager of Human Resources. “We value the work of our employees and are pleased to have reached a mutually beneficial agreement quickly.”

Contract negotiations for the part-time technicians who provide lighting, sound, rigging, and carpentry work at the River Run Centre began on October 19, 2015.
