City lowers Speed River water levels to install sewer pipes

Guelph, Ont., June 9, 2016—The City of Guelph is reducing water levels in a portion of the Speed River starting June 13 to install sewer pipes as part of the York Trunk Sewer Paisley-Clythe Feedermain project. “The Wellington Street Dam will be open for two weeks while crews install sewer pipes under Royal City Park,” said Majde Qaqish, a City project engineer. “Affected businesses and community groups have been advised of the temporary change in water levels and we’ll complete the work as quickly as possible.” Low water levels in the Speed River between Gordon Street and the Wellington Street Dam  are needed to increase visibility 14 feet underground to safely and accurately install 40 metres of sewer pipes. “Given the proximity of an existing watermain… Continue reading City lowers Speed River water levels to install sewer pipes
