Spring cleaning? Waste disposal fees and tips

Guelph, Ont., March 30, 2017 – As spring cleaning season kicks off, here are tips and a reminder of the 2017 waste fees at the Public Waste Drop-off for residents. Don’t make the trip with just one bag. Save money on fuel and waste disposal fees, by waiting until you have a few bags or a full load before heading to the Public Drop-Off. Separate your recyclables from other waste because they’re free to drop-off. Use your curbside waste carts for recyclables, organics and garbage. The more waste you set out at the curb, the less you’ll have to take to the Public Drop-Off. Not a good fit? Consider exchanging your blue or grey cart for a larger size. Ample organic waste? Council approves improvements and fee changes for public waste drop-off

Guelph, Ont., July 19, 2016  – Last night Council approved recommended improvements to the Public Waste Drop-off (PDO) site and the residential yard waste collection program that require changes to existing fees, starting August 1. “The changes approved by Council at last night’s meeting are the first step in making yard waste processing and the Public Drop-off more efficient, user-friendly and cost-effective,” says Cameron Walsh, plant manager of Solid Waste Resources. “We heard loud and clear that there’s a need for improvements at the Waste Resources Innovation Centre, specifically for the yard waste drop off, and we’re ready to put in place changes this summer.” The short- and long-term changes include: A new design for the weigh scales at the Public Drop-off to accommodate more… Continue reading Council approves improvements and fee changes for public waste drop-off

City proposes improvements to yard waste collection and public drop-off

Customer feedback prompts recommended changes Guelph, Ont., June 24, 2016 – The City is recommending improvements to its residential yard waste collection program and Public Waste Drop-off (PDO) site, for consideration at the July 5 Infrastructure, Development and Enterprise Committee meeting. “We heard from Public Drop-Off users and Guelph residents there’s a need to expand residential yard waste collection and improve access at the Waste Resources Innovation Centre,” says Cameron Walsh, plant manager of Solid Waste Resources. “We’re recommending a number of changes to make yard waste processing and the Public Drop-off more efficient, user-friendly and cost-effective.” The recommendations to be discussed on July 5 include: Expanding residential curbside yard waste collection to run biweekly from April to November, starting in 2017.
