Council to consider further review of Guelph long-term care home

Guelph, ON, May 3, 2013 – On May 27, City Council will consider whether to move ahead with an assessment of The Elliott—a not-for-profit seniors’ residence located at 170 Metcalfe Street—to determine if it would be suitable for meeting Guelph’s requirements under the Long-Term Care Homes Act. Currently, the City meets its legislated requirements through an agreement with the County of Wellington. Guelph contributes $1.2 million per year to fund 20 per cent of the net operating costs of the Wellington Terrace facility located outside the city – between Elora and Fergus.
