Application deadline extended for Community Energy Initiative task force

Guelph, Ont., September 28, 2016 – The City is extending the application deadline for the Community Energy Initiative (CEI) task force to midnight on Friday, October 14. “We’ve received sixteen applications from members of the public and environmental groups, but the search is still on for task force members who represent the business sector, development industry, home builders, academia and other levels of government,” explains Rob Kerr, manager of Community Energy. “We are extending the deadline to ensure we fill all the task force seats.” Interested individuals are encouraged to send their name, contact information and responses to three questions to Rob Kerr at rob.kerr@guelph.ca or City Hall, 1 Carden Street, Guelph, Ontario, N1H 3A1. City provides first status report on the Community Energy Initiative (CEI) update

City Council will be presented with the first status report for the Community Energy Initiative (CEI) Update process on Monday, July 18. The report outlines the status of four items: The City’s Corporate Energy Management Program (CEMP), a key aspect of the CEI’s approach to demonstrating leadership, improving energy efficiency in City owned buildings and developing opportunities for on-site energy generation. To date the CEMP has implemented retrofit projects at three city facilities which delivered annual avoided costs of $87,830 as of the end of 2015. Guelph’s Community Energy Initiative Update gets green light

Community participation and ownership integral to CEI’s future success Guelph, Ont., April 27, 2016 – Council unanimously approved the City’s proposed process to update Guelph’s Community Energy Initiative (CEI) on Monday evening. “The City has learned a lot about the value of sustainable energy and its role in Guelph’s long-term ability to prosper since the Community Energy Plan was developed in 2007,” said Rob Kerr, the City’s Community Energy Manager. “The updated CEI will reflect what we know now and re-establish the CEI as a community-led initiative by engaging the community to reaffirm Guelph’s energy priorities and lead future success.” The CEI Update will also include metrics to track and report  progress on the initiative’s defined targets, reflect recent federal and provincial policy requirements, and incorporate… Continue reading Guelph’s Community Energy Initiative Update gets green light
