Bristol Street construction from Essex to Wellington rescheduled to 2018

Construction work on Bristol Street between Essex and Wellington streets is being rescheduled to 2018. The work currently underway from Yorkshire Street to Holliday Road will be completed this year. Why is the schedule changing? Cost estimates for the planned work are above what was expected and budgeted in 2017. The City is rescheduling this project to adjust the budget for 2018. Rather than reduce the scope of work, or come back over two years to complete it, staff will be asking Council for additional funds for this project in the 2018 capital budget. Construction notice: 2017 Bristol Street road, water and sewer construction

Yorkshire Street to Wellington Street Aging infrastructure under the Bristol Street roadway needs to be replaced. The City’s construction plans include the replacement of sanitary and storm sewer pipes, water main, curb and gutter and driveway aprons. Road repaving will include bike lanes and curb narrowing between Yorkshire Street and Raymond Street to prevent on-street parking and support traffic calming through this neighbourhood. All work associated with the Bristol Street project from Edinburgh Road to Yorkshire Street was completed in 2016. The City of Guelph is hosting an open house to present Bristol Street 2017 construction plans between Essex and Wellington streets. Construction update: Bristol Street road, water and sewer construction

Edinburgh Road to Holliday Street Aging infrastructure under the Bristol Street roadway needs to be replaced. The City’s construction plans include the replacement of sanitary and storm sewer pipes, water main, curb and gutter and driveway aprons. Road repaving will include bike lanes and curb narrowing between Yorkshire Street and Raymond Street to prevent on-street parking and support traffic calming through this neighbourhood. Work will wrap up mid-December and resume in spring 2017 Project work has been delayed due to difficult site conditions. Approaching winter weather and freezing temperatures can create issues with the temporary water piping needed to maintain residential water supply during construction, and with paving.
