UPDATE Construction notice: Neeve Street and Cross Street sewer and road construction

The City is working with Drexler Construction Limited to upgrade underground water and sewer pipes on Neeve Street from Howitt Street to the bridge over the Speed River, and on Cross Street from Neeve Street to Arthur Street. This work is part of the Arthur Street sanitary trunk sewer project and includes the installation of sanitary and storm  sewer pipes, water pipes, curb and gutter, sidewalks and on–street parking. Construction starts November 30 Construction is expected to start on or about November 30 and be completed by the end of May 2018, weather permitting. Street closures and detours Starting November 30, Cross Street will be closed for the remainder of construction. Neeve Street, Ontario Street and Howitt Street are now open. The Arthur Street Sanitary Trunk Sewer Phase 3 open house was held April 6, 2017. The following materials were shared at the open house: Open house information package [PDF 231kB] Open house presentation boards [PDF 929kB] About the project The City is reconstructing Wyndham Street South from York Road to the bridge that runs over the Speed River just south of Wellington Street East. Work will include the installation of sanitary sewers, storm sewer, water main, curb and gutter, sidewalks, bike lanes and on–street parking. Final road design will provide one lane for vehicular traffic in each direction and on–road bicycle lanes as recommended by the Cycling Master Plan. Phase 3: Neeve and Cross streets The City of Guelph is hosting an open house to present plans for construction for the third phase of the Arthur Street sanitary trunk sewer project. This phase includes the installation of underground water and sewer pipes on Neeve Street from Howitt Street to the Speed River bridge, and on Cross Street from Neeve Street to Arthur Street South. The City is working with Drexler Construction Limited to upgrade underground water and sewer pipes on Howitt Street from Wyndham Street to Neeve Street and Margaret Street. This work is the second stage of the Arthur Street sanitary trunk sewer project. Construction work includes the installation of sanitary trunk, storm sewer, water main, curb and gutter, sidewalks, driveway aprons, as well as asphalt paving. Neeve closed at Howitt until end of June 2017 Neeve Street will be closed to traffic at Howitt Street until the end of June 2017. Local access is available via Wyndham. Construction update: Howitt Street water and sewer construction

Wyndham Street South to Neeve Street and Margaret Street The City is working with Drexler Construction Limited to upgrade underground water and sewer pipes on Howitt Street from Wyndham Street to Neeve Street and Margaret Street. This work is the second stage of the Arthur Street sanitary trunk sewer project. The construction work includes the installation of sanitary trunk, storm sewer, water main, curb and gutter, sidewalks,  driveway aprons, as well as asphalt paving. Work will continue through winter Project work has been delayed due to difficult site conditions and complications with underground utilities. Contractors will continue working through winter as weather permits. Construction Notice: Howitt Street and Margaret Street closures start August 22

Wyndham Street to Neeve Street The City is working with Drexler Construction Ltd to upgrade underground water and sewer pipes on Howitt and Margaret Streets. Construction will begin on or about August 22. Completion is expected in December, weather permitting. This is the second stage of the Arthur Street sanitary trunk sewer project. Construction includes the installation of water and sewer pipes, and the replacement of curb, gutter and sidewalks. Traffic impacts Howitt Street will be closed to through traffic during construction. The detour route is via Neeve Street to Wellington Street. Driveway access Some residents will be affected by long-term driveway access restrictions due to the nature of the construction.
