The AGSI Canadian Cross Country Running Championships will be hosted for the third year in a row at the University of Guelph Arboretum on Saturday, November 28th, 2009. The Canadian Cross Country Championships includes six National Championship races; the Junior (under 20), Senior (open) and the Masters (over 40) categories for both men and women.

The event also offers the Winter Cross Community 5k trail run and a free kid’s race which is open to local residents and visitors. Over 1000 competitors participated in 2008 and brought several thousand visitors and spectators to the Guelph community. Angus Geosolutions (AGSI) based in Georgetown, Ontario is the title sponsor for the event.

"Attracting events such as the AGSI Canadian Cross Country Running Championships to Guelph is a great opportunity to showcase our community to national participants plus it provides investment as well," said Sue Trerise, Senior Business Specialist - Tourism Sector for the City of Guelph. "This event alone will provide Guelph an economic impact of approximately $1.3million," she added

Come out Saturday morning and do the 5km, then stay to watch some of Canada’s best runners, including some Olympians, competing for national titles in your neighbourhood.

Here is the schedule for the November 28th meet:

9:45AM Community/Open WINTER CROSS (non championship) 5km
10:45AM Masters Men & Women Championship (ages 30 & up) 8km
