Kids Explore how Tunes get Stuck in Their Heads at Upcoming Kinderconcerts

Guelph, ON, November 9, 2009 – River Run Centre, in partnership with the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, proudly presents the return of the Kinderconcerts series, newly named Wooly Kinderconcerts. Ideal for ages 5 and under, this highly popular series gives children the opportunity to experience professional ensemble music up-close in the intimate Cooperators Hall. The series opens with three performances on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 9:00, 10:15 and 11:30 a.m.

The Wooly Kinderconcert Series is a hit with kids who enjoy listening to great music in a fun and informal atmosphere. Parents and grandparents enjoy the experience just as much as they watch their children listen attentively on their mats or spontaneously break into dance. It’s all part of letting the music capture their imaginations. And it’s simply a great way to spend an hour on a Saturday morning.

This first set of shows in the series is titled Music Memories – an exploration of the tunes that stick in your head and won’t let go. Members of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony will show children how these tunes enter your ears and get inside your head. Interactive, engaging, lively, animated and memorable. These are the key elements of River Run’s Kinderconcerts.

After sold-out sessions last season, River Run Centre has added a third performance to each show in the Wooly Kinderconcert Series in 2009-2010, which is sponsored by The Woolwich Arrow. The series will continue with The Brass are Buzzing! on February 6, and Goldilocks and the Three Musical Bears on April 10.

The Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony was formed in 1945 and has grown to become the cultural centrepiece of the Waterloo Region, performing over 90 concerts every season to a combined audience of over 90,000 concertgoers.

River Run Centre, Guelph’s magnificent performing arts centre set along the picturesque bank of the Speed River, is located at 35 Woolwich Street in the City’s downtown core near the site where Guelph was founded.
