Guelph Youth Council, the Ray Scapinello Foundation and Home Depot take the first step in creating the Guelph Youth Centre

Members of the Guelph Youth Council and staff from Home Depot volunteered their time on Saturday, December 16 to transform parts of the Delhi Community Centre into the new Guelph Youth Centre. Volunteers painted, refurbished a mobile storage unit and installed new flooring in one of the Centre’s storage rooms.

This redecoration project was made possible through Home Depot’s charitable program which contributed labour and product towards the initiative. The Ray Scapinello Foundation provided a financial donation towards the project.

The Guelph Youth Centre project started in September of this year with City Council approving the recommendation to convert two rooms at the Delhi Community Centre into a fully functional youth centre. The youth centre will become a place where youth can ‘drop-in’ and participate in various types of social, recreational, and leisure based activities.

In order to bring the Guelph Youth Centre to fruition, the Guelph Youth Council is now working to secure additional funding, establish partnerships within the community, and is looking to obtain donations of new or used furniture and equipment for the centre.
