Frequently Asked Questions About Birthday Parties

What’s included in the price? – The museum is closed to other visitors while birthday parties are happening, so guests get two hours of private time in the museum.  Generally, this will include supervised time in the Families Gallery; a special craft; use of our Programming Room for cake, food, and presents; and a treat for each attending child (typically, a candy stick and complimentary child’s museum admission).

Can we bring food? – Yes!  Space is provided in our Programming Room for food and refreshments.  We can provide tables, chairs, fridge space, and after-party tidy up.  You provide the commercially prepared food, cutlery, dishes, napkins, etc.  Please note all food brought into the facility must be commercially prepared.  If you have special allergy needs that require you to prepare the food for your party that can be discusseed at the time of booking.

What about cake? – Like with other food, you are welcome to bring your own commercially prepared cake.  Unfortunately, however, we cannot allow lit candles because we can’t risk setting off our sprinkler system!

What ages is this good for? – We can adapt our parties to most age groups, but the typical party is most appropriate for kids ages 5-10.

Can adult family members/friends attend? – Yes, adults are welcome to attend, but they must stay with the group and are expected to participate in the party.

Can we wander around the museum? – Our birthday parties are supervised events, so it’s important for everyone’s safety that our staff know where party-goers are.  Should you be interested in looking at a particular exhibit during the party, this may be able to be arranged at the time of booking.
