Green getting around

  • Walk

Dress in layers appropriate for the weather and wear comfortable shoes and socks.

If you haven’t gone for a long walk in a while, start with a few stretches.

Give your children a healthy start to every day.

    Walk to School

  • Bike

If it’s been a while since you’ve been on a bike ask a friend to join you. It’s more fun with a friend along for the ride, and they can show you the ropes.

If you’re cycling to work, leave early and take a bottle of water.

Your bike is the most efficient zero-emission vehicle, and the average adult can ride 18 km/hour.

  • Carpool

Save money, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and share the driving.

Help ease traffic congestion and parking problems.

Start a carpool at your workplace – put a map up in your office or lunch room and have people indicate where they live, and when they come to work. Gather those people who live near eachother and have them discuss sharing their ride.

  • Public Transit

Sit back, relax, read, listen to a playlist, a podcast or chat with friends while someone else does the driving.

A bus replaces an average of 45 cars, drastically reducing air pollution and easing congestion on roads.
