Guelph Transit information for University of Guelph students

Your student card is your ticket to ride

Students at the University of Guelph can use their valid student cards to travel on Guelph Transit. Students must have their bus pass stickers on their student cards in order to use their card as a valid fare for Guelph Transit.

Important dates to remember

    • Friday, August 31 and Saturday September 1: Safe Semester service
    • Tuesday, September 4: Regular weekday service begins
    • Thursday, September 6: Classes commence
    • Thursday, September 6 and Friday, September 7:  Sticker distribution days.
    • Saturday, September 8: End of grace period. Fall 2018 U-Pass stickers must be shown when boarding the bus.
    • September 22: Homecoming service
    • Wednesday, October 31: Halloween service
    • Monday, January 7: classes commence. Regular weekday service begins
    • Monday, February 18: Winter Break begins. No buses during this week
    • Friday, February 22: Winter Break ends. Buses run normal service starting Saturday, February 23
    • Sunday, March 17: St. Patrick’s Day service
    • Friday, April 19: Examinations conclude

     

    Safe Semester: August 31 and September 1

    The Express routes are not in service until September 4. However the following service will be provided on Friday August 31 and Saturday, September 1.

    Friday, August 31 service

    Downtown shuttle service at the following times:

    • 12:35 a.m. to 3:55 a.m.
    • 12:45 a.m. to 3:45 a.m.
    • 12:55 a.m. to 3:10 a.m.
    • 1:10 a.m. to 3:10 a.m.

    Late night service:

    • Edinburgh Loop 12:20 a.m. to 4:05 a.m.
    • Victoria Clair Loop 12:20 a.m. to 4:05 a.m.
    • Kortright Hanlon Loop 12:20 a.m. to 4:05 a.m.

    Saturday, September 1 service

    Downtown shuttle service at the following times:

    • 12:35 a.m. to 3:55 a.m.
    • 12:45 a.m. to 3:45 a.m.
    • 12:55 a.m. to 3:10 a.m.
    • 1:10 a.m. to 3:10 a.m.

    Late night service:

    • Edinburgh Loop 12:20 a.m. – 4:05 a.m.
    • Victoria Clair Loop 12:20 a.m. – 4:05 a.m.
    • Kortright Hanlon Loop 12:20 a.m. – 4:05a.m.

    Homecoming 2018: September 22

    Guelph Transit will provide additional service for Homecoming on the following routes:

    • Route 57 U Ironwood: 12 noon to 7 p.m. with one bus making a continuous loop. This route leaves University Centre every 20 minutes starting at 12 noon with the last bus leaving University Centre at 6:40 p.m.
    • Route 58 U Edinburgh: 12 noon to 7 p.m. with one bus making a continuous loop. This route leaves University Centre every 20 minutes starting at 12 noon with the last bus leaving niversity Centre at 6:40 p.m.
    • Route 50 U Stone: 1:50 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. with one bus making a continuous loop. This route leaves University Centre every 20 minutes starting at 11:50 a.m. with the last bus leaving University Centre at 6:30 p.m.

    Halloween: October 31

    In addition to regular service, the following service will be provided on Halloween:

    Downtown shuttles:

    • 12:35 a.m. to 3:55 a.m.
    • 12:45 a.m. to 3.45 a.m.
    • 12:55 a.m. to 3:10 a.m.
    • 1:10 a.m. to 3:10 a.m.

    Late night loops:

    • Edinburgh Loop from 12:20 a.m. to 4:05 a.m.

    St. Patrick’s Day: March 17, 2019

    St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Sunday and buses operate on a 30 minute service schedule from 6:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Route 99 Mainline operates a 15 minute service schedule from Clair Road to Guelph Central Station.  Route 41 Downtown-University Express operates a 15 minute service schedule from the University to Guelph Central Station.

    In addition to Sunday service, the following service will be provided:

    Express routes :

    • 57 U Ironwood: 1:10 a.m. to 7:05 p.m.
    • 58 U Edinburgh: 11:10 a.m. to 7:05 p.m.
    • 50 U Stone: 11:00 a.m. to 6:55 p.m.

    Late night service:

    • Edinburgh Loop: 6:50 p.m. to 4:05 p.m.
    • Victoria Clair Loop: 6:50 p.m. to 4:05 p.m.
    • Kortright Hanlon Loop: 6:50 p.m. to 4:05 p.m.

    Downtown shuttle service:

    • 7:05 p.m. to 3:50 a.m.
    • 6:45 p.m. to 3:45 a.m.
    • 6:55 p.m. to 3:40 a.m.
    • 7:10 p.m. to 3:10 a.m.

    The following routes provide service to the University of Guelph year round. Please note that Route 16 doesn’t provide service to University Centre – bus stops are located on Gordon Street.

    Late night bus service

    Guelph Transit, in partnership with the Central Students Association, operates several late night routes, a downtown shuttle and a special Sunday route that provides transit service once regular Guelph Transit service had ended. Service on these routes is provided from September to April, with the exception of winter break, reading week and statutory holidays. Please note that these routes provide drop-off service only.

    Downtown shuttle

    The downtown shuttle operates on Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings only, with the first bus leaving the University Centre at 12:30 a.m. and the last bus leaving Guelph Central Station at 3:15 a.m. Passengers will be picked up at the University Centre and Guelph Central Station only.

    Route travel from Guelph Central Station, platform 11:

    • Left on East Ring Road
    • Right on South Ring Road
    • Right into the University Centre, platform 15

    Route travel from University Centre:

    • Right on South Ring Road
    • Right on Gordon Street
    • Right on Wellington Street
    • Left on MacDonnell Street to Guelph Central Station

    West Hanlon Kortright Loop

    This route will depart Tuesday to Saturday, from the University Centre starting at 1:00 a.m., with the last bus leaving the University Centre at 3:30 a.m.

    Route travel from the University Centre:

    • Right on Stone Road East
    • Right on Edinburgh Road South
    • Left on Wilsonview Avenue
    • Left on Scottsdale Drive
    • Right on Janefield Avenue
    • Left on College Avenue West, continuing on Stone Road West

    Sunday service (Magic Bus)

    The Sunday uoute leaves the University Centre every hour starting at 6:30 p.m., with the last bus leaving the University Centre at 12:30 a.m. This route does not provide service from 9:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

    Lost and found

    Lost student cards found on Guelph Transit buses are sent to Student Client Services in the University Centre. Confiscated student cards are sent to the Campus Police office. For all other lost items, please contact Guelph Transit at transit@guelph.ca or 519-822-1811. Please remember that Guelph Transit is not responsible for items lost on the bus.
