Commemorative trees

To purchase a tree or bench in memoriam or dedication, please submit the application form below.

A representative from the Park Maintenance and Development Division will contact you to arrange a meeting at your desired location, to determine the exact site where the tree/bench is to be installed.

Fees

  • Tree: $980.20 plus HST (2″ calliper deciduous or existing tree with plaque, including pick up & installation)
  • Bench: $1,849.85 plus HST (steel with plaque, including installation)

Suggested Commemorative Trees

You may indicate a desired tree species that will be discussed with you during the on-site visit to determine site suitability. We recommend that you consider native tree species such as: Red Maple, Red Oak, White Oak, Bur Oak, Common Hackberry, Sugar Maple, and Tulip Tree. Consideration will be given to requests for trees not included in the above list, the costs of which will be determined.

Personal information on this form is collected under the authority of the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1980, c. 302 (as amended), and will be used by Operations Department staff to determine the number of applications received, to record the trees/benches that are installed, payment for such services and to be used to contact the applicant when necessary. *In the event that the tree should die, become diseased or bench is vandalized, the Corporation of the City of Guelph will guarantee to replace the tree/bench with a landscape size tree of the same species (if available) or the same bench style for a period of three (3) years after the date of installation. After the three (3) year period, the Corporation of the City of Guelph will use its best efforts to contact you in order that you are given an option to purchase for dedication a replacement tree/bench or, if the Corporation of the City of Guelph cannot contact you, the existing plaque will be removed and held for a period of 30 days, the tree/bench will be removed and disposed of and the location will be available to other donors. It is your responsibility to inform the Corporation of the City of Guelph of a change of address.
