As part of its Annual Asphalt Program, the City, through its contractor Capital Paving Inc., will be repaving College Avenue West from Janefield Avenue to Edinburgh Road South. The proposed work includes some concrete curb repairs and replacement of asphalt paving.
Lane configuration changes
College Avenue is an arterial roadway as per the City’s Official Plan. As such, it will be restriped as a three-lane arterial road, which includes a centre turn-lane, two lanes of traffic (one in each direction), and two bicycle lanes (one in each direction). The addition of bicycle lanes is consistent with the Bicycle Policy (2009) and the Cycling Master Plan (2013).
The repaving of College Avenue West is tentatively scheduled to begin on Wednesday, July 2 and is expected to take approximately four weeks to complete.
During construction two-way traffic will be maintained, but significant delays can be expected.
Property access and parking
During construction your driveway may be temporarily blocked during normal working hours (e.g. 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.). The contractor will make every effort possible to maintain access to your driveway, but delays for construction operations and equipment movement should be expected. All driveway access should be restored by the end of each working day (expect as noted for overnight work, if applicable).
Waste collection will not be impacted by the construction. Please continue to place your green, blue and clear waste bags or green, blue and grey carts at the curb as per your regularly scheduled collection time.
The City of Guelph appreciates your patience, understanding and co-operation during this important construction project.
