Verney water tower design competition

Competition closed. Online voting will begin November 6.

Guelph-based artists and designers aged 18 or over were invited to submit original artwork and designs to be included in the repainting of the City’s water tower near Exhibition Park in 2018.

The design competition follows a two-stage process based on the Canadian Artists Representation’s guidelines for organizing art competitions. The City’s Public Art Advisory Committee will review preliminary entries and narrow the selection down to three finalists who will be invited to develop and refine their design concepts for consideration final community vote.

The winning design will be decided by an online community vote running November 6-19, with the winning artist or designer announced by December.

Artwork will be scored based on quality, creativity, technical feasibility and relevance to Guelph. The top three finalists will each receive a $250 honorarium, and the artist whose work is selected by the community will be awarded an additional $750 prize.
