Facility closures

The following City of Guelph facilities will be closed on Monday, June 21; Friday, July 9; Thursday, July 22; Wednesday, August 11; and Tuesday, August 24. (Click here to read the related news release)
  • City Hall, 1 Carden St.
  • Centennial Park Arena, 373-377 College Ave. W.
  • Centennial Pool, 289 College Ave. W.
  • Civic Museum, 6 Dublin St. S.
  • Evergreen Seniors Centre, 683 Woolwich St.
    • Open for third-party operated clinics and activity groups and services offered by the Guelph Wellington Seniors Association.  
  • Exhibition Park Arena, 70 Division St.
  • Guelph Public Library (all branches)
  • Lyon’s Pool, 299 York Rd.
  • McCrae House, 108 Water St.
  • Ontario Court of Justice Provincial Offences, 55 Wyndham St. N.
    • People wishing to pay fines can use the “after hours” drop box located at the entrance to the court facility, outside of the west entrance doors to suite 215 in the Old Quebec Street mall. Fine payments can also be made at any other Provincial Offences Court office in Ontario. 
  • Operations, 45 Municipal St.
  • River Run Centre, 35 Woolwich St.
    • Open for facility rental only.
  • Sleeman Centre, 50 Woolwich St.
  • Transit administration office, 170 Watson Rd. S.
  • Victoria Road Recreation Centre, 151 Victoria Rd. N.
  • West End Community Centre, 21 Imperial Rd. S.
    • Access to KidsAbility Centre will be available.
  • Waste Resource Innovation Centre, 110 Dunlop Dr.
    • Facility closure includes the Household Hazardous Waste Depot, Public Drop-off, Transfer Station, Materials Recovery Facility, and administration office.
  • Wastewater Treatment Plant, 530 Wellington St.
  • Waterworks, 29 Waterworks Pl.
Service disruptions
 
Three bags of wasteAs a result of the facility closures, all services offered at affected facilities will not be available on the days of the closure. What follows is a list of some of the services that will not be available on Monday, June 21; Friday, July 9; Thursday, July 22; Wednesday, August 11; and Tuesday, August 24.
  • Bulky item collection
  • Curbside waste collection in residential neighbourhoods. Waste will not be collected on the days of the closure. Collection will resume for affected residents on their next regular collection day. If the service disruption falls on your clear Waste bag collection day, your clear Waste bags will be collected in two weeks. Residents can bring Wet, Dry and Waste bags to the public drop-off during regular hours, except on the closure days. A disposal fee of $2 per bag applies.
  • Curbside waste collection in the downtown core. Waste collection will take place as scheduled on the next regular collection day.
  • Recreation programs (with the exception of day camps). Day camps operating out of City facilities will be relocated to another location on the days of the temporary closures. All other recreation programs will be cancelled. Prorated refunds will be issued for recreation activities cancelled due to the temporary closures.
  • Roadway and park maintenance (with the exception of sports fields)
  • Splash pads, wading pools and the Riverside Park amusement rides
  • Tourism Information Centre

Services not affected by the closures

  • Guelph Transit buses will be in operation on the days of the temporary facility closures. Transit service—including mobility service—will be suspended on Sundays in August, and 20-minute transit service will be replaced with 30-minute service in June, July and August.
  • Major construction projects will continue as scheduled.
  • Emergency services such as police, fire and emergency medical service (EMS) will continue to be available at all times.
  • Water supply and wastewater treatment related services will not be affected.
  • Downtown parking lots will remain open.
