Heritage Guelph is composed of 13 members (12 citizen volunteers and one Council representative). Volunteer members attend regular bimonthly meetings to provide their expert opinion and advise city council, the public and city staff on matters relating to cultural heritage resources. The members are usually assigned responsibilities such as researching and evaluating properties that may deserve protection. In addition, members sit on a range of other City Committees and Task Forces and assist with special activities such as the Doors Open Guelph event.
