Downtown Advisory Committee

The Downtown Advisory Committee will provide strategic input and advise to Council and Staff on matters pertaining to issues impacting the economic, social, cultural, environmental, physical and educational conditions in Downtown Guelph. The goals and objectives of the DAC include:

  • Act as a strategic advisor to facilitate visioning, planning and coordination on projects/issues/plans within Downtown Guelph
  • Advise in the preparation, maintenance, and updating of the Downtown Implementation Strategy outlining key priority areas promoting city-wide economic development efforts
  • Work with Staff and Council to ensure the Downtown Implementation Strategy supports priorities with appropriate funding mechanisms and options
  • Act as a champion for Downtown Guelph supporting collaboration, entrepreneurship and investment
  • Form subcommittee(s) of its members and/or including other interest groups or individuals to respond with specific issues/projects.

Downtown Coordinating Committee

The Downtown Coordinating Committee (DCC) was established in 2007 to assist and advise City Staff on the implementation of the Downtown Action Plan 2007-2011. The Downtown Action Plan outlined various mechanisms that would enable the development, planning, budgeting and delivery of programs intended to improve the social, fiscal, cultural and investment climate for downtown Guelph. Following corporate restructuring in 2010, the Downtown Renewal Office was asked to undertake a further review and consultation process with the downtown stakeholders regarding the structure and mandate of the Downtown Coordinating Committee.

This committee was re-established as the Downtown Advisory Committee in 2011 with a renewed mandate, including the updating of the Downtown Investment Strategy for 2011-2015.
