Current Development Charges

Development Charges imposed by the bylaw effective March 2, 2019 to March 1, 2020

Guelph City Council passed Development Charges Bylaw Number (2019)-20372 on February 11, 2019.

Any person or organization can appeal the bylaw to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (LPAT). You can find the appeal form on the LPAT website; scroll down until you find the “Development Charge By-law or Education Development Charge By-law” section, and click on the A1 Appeal Form. You can also get a paper appeal form from ServiceGuelph at City Hall between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

You need to file the notice of appeal with the City Clerk by March 25, 2019, by 4:30 p.m. You’ll need to include your objection to the bylaw and your reasons for objecting to the bylaw with your notice for appeal. You can file the appeal by:

Non-residential Development Charges are imposed according to the amount of gross floor area being developed. The full amount of the non-residential Development Charges are payable at the applicable rate at the time of building permit issuance.
