Immigrating to Guelph and Wellington County

Approximately 700 immigrants settle in our community each year, and newcomers are essential to our continued social, economic and cultural well-being.

Several local organizations, agencies and community partners are working together to make our community an inclusive, appealing and welcoming place that attracts and retains newcomers who bring skills, experience and investment.

Guelph Wellington Local Immigration Partnership (GWLIP)

GWLIP is a coalition of over 70 individuals representing various groups in the community, including newcomers, ethno-cultural organizations, service providers, businesses and the public, working together to create a more welcoming and inclusive community for immigrants.

Guelph Wellington Immigration Portal

Guelph’s immigration portal supports the economic and social inclusion of newcomers before and after they arrive in our community. The portal is designed to:

  • ensure that the City of Guelph and Wellington County are welcoming communities where everyone thrives
  • promote Guelph Wellington as a destination for immigrants to settle, work and invest
  • support service providers by providing accurate, timely information and resources to share with clients
  • provide employers and the business community with tools to support their recruitment and retention of global talent, benefiting the local economy
