Eastbound lane closure on Waterloo Avenue starts October 19
Waterloo Avenue at Essex Street
Manhole reconstruction is taking place at Waterloo Avenue just west of Essex Street. Manholes are generally located in the driving portions of the roadway and are exposed to heavy volumes of traffic which results in structure failure.
Construction begins on Waterloo Avenue October 19
Construction will begin on or about October 19 at 7 a.m. with the road reopening the same day, weather permitting.
Traffic and parking impacts
Eastbound traffic on Waterloo Avenue will be detoured via Edinburgh Road, Wellington Street and Gordon Street. Construction will not impact westbound traffic on Waterloo Avenue. Pedestrian access will be open in both directions.
There will be no parking available on Essex Street during construction to accommodate detoured transit routes. Parking on Dublin Street will be restricted to the east side only between Waterloo Avenue and Essex Street.
Property access and parking
Every effort will be made to maintain access to driveways in the construction area during working hours (7 a.m.–7 p.m.) Construction activities and equipment movement may temporarily impact access to private property and delays should be expected.
Guelph Transit route 9 will be temporarily detoured during construction. Visit guelphtransit.ca for information about stop changes and route detours.
There will be no interruption to any City services during construction. Waste collection will not be affected. Please continue to place your green, blue and grey carts at the curb, as per your regular schedule.
The City appreciates your patience, understanding and co-operation during this important construction project. Project details and any updates will be posted on guelph.ca/construction.
