City tests air purification and disinfection system at two facilities

air purification systemGuelph, Ont., February 2, 2017—Starting in February, the City of Guelph will test an air purification and disinfection system at the Evergreen Seniors Community Centre and City Hall.

The Synexis Biodefense System acts as a building’s immune system and is designed to provide a cleaner and healthier indoor environment. The system uses a patented dry Hydrogen Peroxide (dHP) technology that uses a building’s ambient humidity and oxygen to continuously produce a safe, natural disinfectant that kills viruses, bacteria, mold, allergens and pollutants in the air, on surfaces, and other out-of-reach areas.

The City cares about the safety and well-being of its staff and residents. This new air purification and disinfection system is expected to allow the City to provide a healthier environment for staff and facility patrons, improving its level of service to the community.

The City will pilot the system for a six month period, at a cost of $50,000. The results of the testing, along with budget considerations, will be used to determine the system use in City facilities in the future.
