Construction notice: Guelph Police headquarters parking garage construction

About the project

Guelph Police Service headquarters is currently undergoing a three-year expansion and renovation to meet the needs of our community’s police services today and 25 years from now. This work will bring the facility up to today’s health and safety standards, provide the appropriate space—long-term—for police operations and personnel, and replace the building’s aging equipment.

Garage construction begins early February

The City expects the contractor to begin pouring concrete for the garage floors at the Guelph Police Service headquarters on or around February 1, and expects the work to be complete by the end of June. There are no traffic impacts anticipated from the work.

After hours noise and light

The contractor completing the work will need to work outside of the hours of the noise by-law due to the nature of the work and the winter weather. Nearby residences may experience noise and see lights during the work, which could sometimes extend until 3 a.m.

While the City is exempt from the noise bylaw where it is carrying out City operations (like garbage collection) or operating, maintaining or installing municipally-owned infrastructure, the City will make every effort to work within the noise bylaw as much as possible.
