Monthly downtown parking permit increase begins February 1

Parking permit increaseGuelph, Ont., January 10, 2017—Starting February 1, monthly downtown parking permit fees will go up by five per cent. Council approved the parking permit increase on December 7, 2016 as part of the City’s 2017 Tax-supported Operating Budget.

Parking permit increases help to offset operational costs related to downtown parking lot maintenance and administration. Maintenance and administration costs rise each year.

The city has notified monthly permit holders of the parking permit fee increase by email, printed notices and signs. Permit–related fees, such as permit deposits, are not increasing.

No hourly rate increase; free two-hour parking on downtown streets continues

Hourly parking rates are not increasing in 2017. Downtown on-street parking remains free in 2017 with a two–hour, once per day limit Monday to Saturday between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.
