Construction Notice: Downey Road improvements

Forestell Road to Laird Road

Update (as of September 16):

The City of Guelph is reconstructing Downey Road from Forestell Road to Laird Road, to create a passing vehicle lane.

Construction will begin on or about July 26, weather permitting. Work is expected to be Map showing area of construction on Downey Road complete by late September, pending private utility relocation.

Two-way traffic will be maintained; however, there will be a southbound lane reduction between Forestell Road and Laird Road throughout the construction period.

UPDATE: The flashing beacon at the intersection of Laird and Downey Road has been temporarily removed to allow Guelph Hydro to raise the hydro lines to safe clearance standards. Once the lines have been raised, the beacon will be reinstalled.

Property access and parking

Every effort will be made to maintain access to driveways in the construction area during working hours (Monday to Friday, 7 a.m.–7 p.m.) Construction activities and equipment movement may temporarily impact access to private property and delays should be expected. When access is restricted, notice will be given and alternative arrangements will be made for detour. Follow the direction of posted signs.

City services

There will be no interruption to any City services during construction. Waste collection will not be affected. Please continue to place your green, blue and grey carts at the curb, as per your regular schedule.
