Construction, demolition work well underway

Victoria Road Recreation Centre is a shadow of its former self as work continues on the renovation project.

Behind the scenes

A summary of the work completed as of June 13, 2016.

  • Main entrance demolition complete
  • Pedestrian entrance ramp demolished to make way for new addition
  • Interior walls at pool level removed for new change rooms
  • Pool filter room equipment removed and demolished for expansion
  • Main lobby demolition complete
  • Plumbing, electrical and mechanical work ongoing
  • New tube heaters installed at arena bleachers
  • New arena lighting roughed in for replacement
  • Existing teaching pool demolished
  • Pool bulkhead removed
  • Mechanical room (penthouse) equipment removed
  • HVAC rough-ins continuing
  • Tile removed from arena level washrooms and showers
  • Storm and sanitary site services installed
  • New hydro duct bank installed for electrical servicing to the facility
  • New parking lot interior access created
  • Asphalt removed from existing driveway
