Guelph, Ont., May 12, 2016 – The City of Guelph is set to start renovating Guelph Central Train Station on Monday.
“The renovations will replace the building’s worn out materials while preserving its unique cultural heritage features, improving accessibility and energy efficiency, and accommodating all Guelph Central Station’s transit users,” says Mario Petricevic, general manager of Facilities Management.
The $2.1 million renovation work will be led by general contractor, Collaborative Structures Limited, and is expected to take 14 months to complete.
Highlights of the renovation include a concrete wheelchair ramp at the main entrance; a new accessible washroom; new ticket booths for Greyhound Canada and GO Transit; and upgrades to the existing public washrooms and public seating area.
During the construction there will be no interruption to Guelph Transit, GO Transit, Via Rail and Greyhound operations and riders can continue to buy tickets and catch trains and buses as usual.
