Guelph, Ont., December 7, 2015 –Today, general manager of business, development and enterprise, Peter Cartwright announced Barbara Maly as the City’s new manager of economic development, filling a vacant position after a staff retirement this past fall.
“Over the last ten years, Barbara has been instrumental in developing programs and partnerships that support and expand business development in Guelph,” said Peter Cartwright. “Her collaborative approach and extensive experience working with strategic partners both locally and abroad, will be exceptionally valuable to the role and the City.”
Maly brings over 25 years of experience in both the private and government sectors filing senior level business development and technical service roles with the Guelph Food Technology Centre at the University of Guelph, Kraft Canada, and Nabisco Ltd. Maly has also held various roles with the City of Guelph since joining the organization in 2006, including business retention and expansion program manager, business development specialist in agri-food and innovation, and acting executive director of Guelph Partnership for Innovation.
Maly will oversee programs that support Guelph’s Economic Development Strategy, Prosperity 2020 including foreign direct investment, Hanlon Creek Business Park land sales, business retention and expansion, and business attraction marketing programs.
