Pay and display machines offer more convenient payment options
Guelph, ON, October 8, 2015 – The City is installing four pay and display parking payment machines in the Baker Street parking lot the week of October 26. The machines will replace the parking booth and attendants.
“We’re moving to a pay and display system in the Baker Street lot to offer patrons more payment options, provide better monitoring through a centralized system, and realize long-term cost savings,” said Anna Marie O’Connell, the City’s supervisor of parking administration. “The annual cost savings, approximately $90,000, will be used to help offset the maintenance, operation and administration costs of the City’s parking facilities.”
Parking rates will remain the same and paid parking will continue to be in effect from Monday to Saturday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Parking lot attendants will be on site during special events and the same $5 flat fee will apply.
Starting next week, existing permit holders will receive their new parking permits from the parking booth attendants.
The Baker Street parking lot attendants will relocate to the City’s West Parkade once the new machines are in place.
How to pay and display
Patrons park their vehicle, pay at the machine, receive a receipt, and then place the receipt inside the vehicle on the dashboard. Instructions are available on each machine along with the City’s parking office phone number.
