Guelph Transit bus/truck collision October 18, 2015

The following information was reported by the Guelph Police Service:

City bus/pickup truck collision update, November 2, 2015

On October 18, 2015 at 9:09 a.m., the Guelph Police went to Wyndham Street and Farquar Street for a collision between a City bus and a pick up truck. On November 1, 2015,  the driver of the pick up truck was charged criminally.

Amanda Kosher, 42 years of Grand Valley has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm. She will appear in court on December 15, 2015.

City bus/pickup truck collision update, October 21, 2015

On October 18, 2015 at 9:09 a.m., Guelph Police responded to a collision at the intersection of Wyndham Street South and Farquar Street. It involved a 2014 Ford Pickup truck operated by a 32-year-old female and a 2003 Guelph city bus operated by a 35-year-old Guelph male. The bus came to rest on top of the pickup truck on the berm on the east side of Wyndham Street trapping the driver of the pickup truck for over an hour.  Once extricated from the truck, the driver was transported to Hamilton General hospital by air ambulance and treated for non-life threatening injuries and released. The driver of the bus was transported by GWEMS to Guelph General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  There was one passenger on the bus that suffered minor injuries that did not require medical attention.

Wyndham Street was closed for several hours as the Guelph Police reconstructed the scene.  Evidence collected at the scene suggests that the Ford pickup truck was travelling eastbound on Farquar Street when it entered the intersection and was struck on the passenger side by the front of the bus.  Damage to both vehicles is extensive–$30,000 for the Ford pickup truck and $40,000 for the city bus.

The collision remains under investigation. The Guelph Police would like to receive any photos of the scene that may have been taken, especially if they are facing west down Farquhar from Wyndham. City bus/truck collision, October 19, 2015

On October 18, 2015 at 9:09 a.m., the Guelph Police went to Farquar Street and Wyndham Street for a collision between a pickup truck and a city bus. The driver of the pick-up had to be extricated from the vehicle and was taken to Hamilton General Hospital via air ambulance. The bus driver received minor injuries. There was one passenger on the bus who was not injured. Wyndham Street was closed until shortly after 5:00 p.m., while police conducted an investigation.  Damage is estimated at approximately $70-80,000 between the two vehicles. There are no further updates at this time.
