Modeled after the CBC’s popular ‘Canada Reads’, #GuelphREADS will be a fun-filled evening ending with the audience choosing the book that Guelph readers should put at the top of their reading lists this spring. Back by popular demand on Wednesday, May 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the Main Library, the Friends of the Library present a star-studded panel who will attempt to convince you that their choice of literature should also be yours. The format will be about one hour of presentation and debate by the panel members after which the audience will have the opportunity to vote for the winner. This year’s moderator will be Marva Wisdom. The celebrity panel members and their chosen titles are:
- Ian Findlay presenting Circling the Midnight Sun, by James Raffan.
- Maggie Laidlaw presenting This Changes Everything by Naomi Klein.
- Kithio Mwanzia presenting A Nation Worth Ranting About by Rick Mercer.
- Susan Ratcliffe presenting The Golden Spruce: a True Story of Myth, Madness and Greed by John Vaillant.
All of the books are available through the Guelph Public Library and at local book stores.
