Guelph, ON, March 6, 2014—The number of properties without any running water is down to 237 in Guelph. Temporary lines have been installed at 80 properties, 24 more installations are scheduled today and crews plan to install about 70 more over the weekend.
The City has advised people with thawed services to run a small amount of water to prevent re-freezing. Property owners should not run water unless the City advises them to do so.
Temporary water services are not for drinking or cooking and the City continues to provide gift cards for people to purchase bottled water, as well as free use of laundromats and free use of showers at the Victoria Road Recreations Centre and West End Community Centre.
The City is asking people already enrolled in the frozen water assistance program to limit their calls to the City to keep phone lines available for scheduling temporary water service installations.
