Woodlawn Road bridge opens ahead of schedule

Construction complete; access restored to motorists, cyclists and pedestrians

Guelph, ON, August 15, 2014 – The Woodlawn Road bridge, between Woolwich Street and Victoria Road, opened yesterday, one week earlier than expected.

As part of the City’s Annual Asphalt Program, the bridge on Woodlawn Road was closed on August 11 to facilitate the replacement of the bridge deck—which involved removal of existing asphalt, waterproofing and repaving.

“To ensure motorists, cyclists and pedestrians had access to Woodlawn Road, City crews worked hard to complete the bridge construction resulting in its early completion,” explained Grant Ferguson, project manager.

It may take crews up to a few days to remove construction signs.

The City of Guelph appreciates residents’ patience, understanding and co-operation during these important projects, and will post updates on guelph.ca/construction, Twitter and Facebook.
