City hosting Emergency Preparedness Day event

Attention: News and photo editors

Guelph, ON, May 5, 2014 – On Wednesday, May 7 the City of Guelph will host an Emergency Preparedness Day event at the West End Community Centre.

The annual event, which takes place during national Emergency Preparedness Week (May 4 to 10), is an opportunity for the City’s Emergency Services personnel to educate the public about emergency management activities and where they can find resources to learn about personal preparedness. This year’s theme is “I am ready. We are ready.”

Emergencies can strike a community at any time and with little or no advance warning. Residents are encouraged to be prepared to cope on their own for at least the first 72 hours of an emergency, enabling first responders to focus on those in urgent need.
