Expect the unexpected when DuffleBag Theatre brings its interactive interpretation of Peter Pan to River Run Centre

Guelph, ON December 30, 2013  – The popular DuffleBag Theatre troupe members are making a stop at Guelph’s River Run Centre again this season. This time the company, which specializes in interactive plays aimed at children’s audiences, brings their unique rendition of Peter Pan. The performance takes place on Sunday, January 12 at 2 pm on the Main Stage. It’s presented as part of the Guelph Mercury Family Shows series and is sponsored by Stackpole International.

In this classic tale, Peter Pan and his faithful friend Tinkerbell guide siblings Wendy, John and Michael through great adventures in Never-Never Land, all the while avoiding the dastardly Captain Hook. In signature DuffleBag style, audience members will be invited to join the action on stage and play key characters. Audience participation and improvisation are the reason why kids and parents find DuffleBag’s performances so hilariously entertaining. It’s a formula that has kept the troupe in steady demand in schools, community centres, performing arts venues and festivals since its inception in 1992.

“Anyone in the audience is fair game,” observed a reporter from Whilstler, BC’s Pique News in a review of a DuffleBag Theatre performance. “Kids, teachers, parents, and siblings. They’re pulled up on stage, given a costume out of the dufflebag (plus a little guidance), and let in on the action, often with hilarious and unexpected results.”

Artistic director Marcus Lundgren and general manager Rod Keith founded DuffleBag Theatre. What began as a one-off entry into the London International Children’s Festival has continued for over two decades as an active, vibrant company. DuffleBag performs over 600 shows per year across Canada, and the United States, and have toured as far afield as Vietnam and Malaysia.

Tickets start at $20 for adults and $17 for children. $5 eyeGO tickets are available for high school students with valid ID. $20 uGO tickets are available to university and college students with valid ID. Please note that everyone must have a ticket to enter the theatre, including children and infants. Tickets are available at the River Run Box Office at 519-763-3000, or online at riverrun.ca
