Newly hired Transit Mobility Supervisor no longer employed with City of Guelph

Guelph, ON, September 24, 2013 – Bill Richardson, Guelph’s Transit’s recently hired Supervisor of Transit Mobility, is no longer employed with the City of Guelph, effective this afternoon.

At the time of Mr. Richardson’s hire, the City had no knowledge of the circumstances surrounding his departure from the City of Hamilton. Those circumstances came to light with the public release of a grievance arbitration ruling of which the City became aware yesterday. The arbitration ruling had not been released at the time of Mr. Richardson’s hire.

The City of Guelph received very satisfactory references from two senior management employees from the Hamilton Street Railway (HSR).

Immediately upon learning of the arbitration ruling, the City of Guelph reviewed the ruling, met with Mr. Richardson to discuss the situation, and subsequently made the decision to terminate his employment.
