Guelph, On, March 28, 2013 – The City is looking for community feedback to determine preferred options for a new splash pad and water feature, and the layout for washroom and change room facilities to be built in South End Community Park.
The City is inviting members of the public to attend an open house on Wednesday, April 10 from 2-4 p.m. or 7-9 p.m. at the Clair Road Emergency Services Centre, located at 160 Clair Road.
During the open house, community members will be invited to view drawings showing proposed water features and options for the new washroom and change room facility. Members of the project team will be available to answer questions about the project. Those wishing to provide input but unable to attend the open house can view plans and drawings and complete a brief online questionnaire.
In 2003, City Council approved a splash pad as part of a master plan for the development of South End Community Park. With funding in place and design drawings underway, construction of the splash pad, washrooms and change rooms is expected to begin this summer. The City hopes to open the facility in the summer of 2014.
The former South End Community Park washroom buildings were removed last year. The buildings were closed in 2009 following the tragic death of Isabel Warren.
