The City of Guelph will be undertaking the construction of the Howitt Creek Flood Protection and Watercourse Renaturalization Project during the spring and summer months.
The City has hired Hermanns Contracting Limited to undertake the construction. Mobilization activities, such as bringing equipment to the site, are expected to begin March 15, 2013, weather permitting.
About the project
As indicated during the Project Open House held on June 19, 2012, the project construction includes:
- grading and landscaping the lands east of Howitt Creek for the flood protection facility;
- constructing new multi-use trails; and
- renaturalizing Howitt Creek.
Tree removal will be required on the City owned portion of the site as part of this renaturalization project.
Access to the site
There will be no public access to the site during construction.
