Corporate technology plan proposes easier, quicker access to local government

GUELPH, ON, Friday, September 7, 2012 – The City’s first-ever corporate technology plan will be considered by Council’s Corporate Administration, Finance and Enterprise Services Committee on September 10.

The corporate technology plan would provide the conditions for the City to deliver public services better. It contains recommendations for open government, IT governance, IT service standards and IT sustainability.

The plan also proposes easier, quicker access to City information at any time, more opportunities for citizen engagement and modern business systems. These would be the foundation for better public service using mobile technology and other e-customer service methods.

Gilles Dupuis, Manager of Information Technology, will introduce the plan at the committee meeting by highlighting how technology is critical to strengthening how the City works and enabling Guelph to prosper in the years ahead.
